Wow, is it ever good to be all the way home after all that. The trip to Colorado seemed very long to me, even though I was in a gorgeous hotel with a cool central atrium containing a rocky, winding walk through a garden with burbling water and even a couple of fish. No city, no HLM, no cats, no conversations with anyone that had much interest for me (the conversations I had with france-man, who I now work for, about the company, notwithstanding--they just served more and more to remind me that I've got to move on at some point). It was kinda cool to get behind classified lines at the air force base for a couple of hours, in a science fictiony way, but it was not worth the sheer business-trippiness of it all. :(

Got home Friday night in time to do a quick turnaround and--boing!--head out the next morning to the big company bash up in the mountains in NH. The resort was pretty posh and we each got $40 random credit on our account, so we ended up getting lunch, dinner and breakfast for free plus some fun stuff from the salon gift shop. Dinner was exquisite--one of those extra-fancy dealies where you get lobster and steak and salmon... and yes, for you veggie readers, the salad and strawberry shortcake were yummy too. Also, the fitness facilities were a lot nicer than at most hotels, so I was able to do cardio Saturday and weights Sunday w/o difficulty. The best part of all this, of course, was getting to spend time with my bug again, and we got lots of sex. :) The bad part was that, for the first time at a company party I've been to, I saw people get really sloshed and show their sad or wild or just nutty sides. I dunno why people drink if they know it will make them act so different from how they generally like to project themselves. In general that part wasn't fun. The office meanie was just sad and pathetic, the evil HR director was also kind of sad (fighting with the bonfire for her husband's attention just when they finally had a weekend away from the small kids... yeah, I understood), some of the wresting/brawling was just amusing. Oh yes, and I took down a pretty damn buff wife-of-a-friend in left-handed arm-wrestling, at the end of a long endurance contest... yowwwww, that's the last time I arm-wrestle anyone who's so evenly matched with me. Heroes and weaklings only, please.

(This random babbling is making me hyper-aware that the company just spent a ton of money on me. Okay, okay, I hereby promise to work hard and not whine and not quit until at least next June 21!)

My hamstrings (and only my hamstrings) hurt from the 23 minutes I spent running on the treadmill Saturday. Grrr. I'm disappointed that TKD is training my legs unevenly enough for that to be true. Maybe it's time to squeeze a weekly run into my workout schedule somehow. But at the moment I'm tired and rather overwhelmed just by the thought of doing laundry & cleaning up, so there's another ambitious thought that can just sit on the shelf for a while. :b

It is amazing what work people will do when you take them out of a work environment. Sounds like some of your coworkers went off the deep end. Glad to have you back in town.
