Five-day vacation
Jun. 12th, 2016 11:50 amI took Wednesday through Friday off, and haven't looked at work email even once since walking out on Tuesday... maybe I did really need some time off. I didn't have to go far to find things to do; my house turned out to be full of unexploited resources. Unread books, unwatched exercise DVDs, un-listened-to boxed sets of Cure B-sides and rarities.
I turned 39, so that's something. In keeping with my favorite way to spend such days, breakfast was with
norwood and the evening with
heisenbug. I bought eyeliner at MAC and brought fancy cupcakes to circus class (which, yes, of course I attended). People gave me books of essays, and I slurped up two of them like a plate of noodles.
Came out as a Hillary Clinton supporter on Facebook, expressing sadness at how hard that's been to do.
Fielded, expertly, a letter from my dad in which he expressed 100% certainty that my marriage was doomed and compared my polyamorous behavior to, uh, cancer. He backed down right away. I sure found it annoying though.
Took a private aerial rope lesson! Immediately was put on joking notice that I must not show people how good I am at rope. :P It did seem pretty intuitive, with even the toe-grip thing not being so bad. So, considering that I unfollowed someone last week on FB in order to manage my own envy at how fast they're learning handbalancing, maybe that's reasonable.
There's more (learning some Python, seeing Kurios), but it's time to wash my greasy hair and get to the gym. I hope this vacation was long enough; I didn't get antsy or bored and I don't really feel like going back to work, and I haven't done the things that tend to ease re-entry. Still, it probably did me good. It's the same feeling I get from oversleeping when I didn't mean to but when I didn't really have to be up for anything anyway.

Date: 2016-06-12 05:56 pm (UTC)I knew you were a Clinton supporter from your posts on here.
The Cure B-sides sounds interesting. :) The Cure was the first band I saw live! Got grounded for a month that night, but it was worth it.

Date: 2016-06-14 03:10 am (UTC)"Unfortunately your efforts to shore up your sex life with an outside party is doomed for failure. It will destroy your marriage. I have not the slightest doubt of that truth. No matter what Heisenbug says to you or to himself it will not work in the longer run. It will seep into Heisenbug like a cancer and it will destroy your future together."
The weird thing is that he was so willing to back down, after I replied non-defensively and assured him that the whole thing is a joint decision (and that the bug has enjoyed some sexual adventure of his own). He's a piece of work, that's for sure. I'm very, very good at dealing with him, but didn't appreciate the chance to practice my skills. :P
Here's the Cure boxed set:
