Oh, that's so much better.
Nov. 21st, 2003 09:37 amCool, so now I've seen West Side Story--and I've had exposure to another famous musical. Whee. It was actually quite well done, except the lack of communication between the dance director (who had a lot of dances with guys crouching down near the floor) and the set designers (who could have told that person about seating in that room, and how it doesn't slope enough to let anyone but the front row see those dances). Anyway, it was good, and afterward I finally got to see my bug. There was one bit of weirdness... there was this girl in the orchestra who was going to give us a ride to the after-opening-night party, and she was making rather a big deal about having known HLM since he was a freshman. Longer than I have, yes, I know. Then plans evolved and she wanted to give him a ride but not me (for a semi-reasonable reason, but... hmmmm, really now). I considered pissiness. Then I thought, well, point to her... match, set,and game to me. This is perhaps not worth the energy output. I secured a ride in another car full of nice people, and had a nice snuggly time at Uno's where HLM had, of course, saved me a seat. We got a little cutesy right in front of her... I liked that. :) I found out over the course of the evening that the girl in question was (a) married and (b) in pain from a second-degree burn, so I think she was just snagging a dominance point in the long, sometimes slow-paced and low-stakes game that is Life. And, minor-league bitchy as that may be, who among us hasn't done it? So that was that, I really felt fine and able to ignore it; and then HLM and I went home--together! yay!--and collapsed exhausted into bed and talked about SF stories for a little bit. It was soooo nice. :) Sex would've been good too, but I think I needed the talking even more.
So tonight is another show, but I'll be busy with a cookfest--I plan to go grocery shopping and cook up a few things to carry us through the weekend and bring to the recipe party. The other interesting thing about today is that I'm spending an hour tutoring a friend from the DC class in the very basics of software--more trying to just make it non-scary for her, than actually trying to teach her to do it. I'm curious how that will go... it should be fun, at least.
