Because of the recent pro-gay-marriage ruling of the wonderful, hip & sassy Massachusetts courts, right-wing assholes all over the country are spouting about how wrong it all is, and of course they are trying to push through a federal amendment--a process that is difficult but possible. The Human Rights Campaign is therefore asking for donations to put a big ad in USA Today next week to educate people about alternative families... the minimum is $10, and come on, you have $10 to spare, don't you? Probably you do. And this is an important issue. Any federal amendment that limits the definition of family would be the first federal amendment ever that would strip rights from any group. I'm usually a twerp about not giving money to anything, but I shelled out $20 for this.... I think knowing it was going to happen next week gave some immediacy to it in my mind.

The other thing you can do is send a pre-written message to your congresspersons and senators. If you put in your address, it will email the right people.
