...as the sun shines on the infantry returning from the sea;
The doer and the thinker, no allowance for the other
As the failing light illuminates the mercenary's creed.
That's another quote from Jethro Tull's album Thick as a Brick. I don' t think I've heard a more poignant comment yet on the current war... unless of course it's the new Onion article entitled Saddam Proud He Still Killed More Iraqi Civilians than U.S. ("In fairness to Bush, Saddam conceded that he has had a significant head start killing Iraqis, beginning his political career in the late '60s as a torturer for the Ba'ath party."... ouch.)
Well, anyway. I am doing well today. I started off the morning by blasting away the competition on my favorite online puzzle game... fantastic! But when I went back to look at my winning 21-second solution again, I couldn't find it at all. Gee, I'm glad my brain was at least working when the timer was on. :)
Tae kwon do went well last night too. The local grandmaster was teaching forms instead of the usual teacher, and that helped; he always makes me feel like I'm on The Path. But today I truly feel more relaxed about the whole thing. Here's hoping that feeling lasts.
Tonight I leave for a one-day business trip, so I won't be posting tomorrow. I went to the library and checked out a book of Martin Amis's short stories to take with me; I'm betting they'll be great. I didn't like Time's Arrow when I read it, but only because I thought the idea should've stayed in a short story rather than a novel. We'll see.
