[livejournal.com profile] miyyu recently found Noam Chomsky's blog, which links to Tim Wise's blog. Who is this Tim Wise? He's clever and funny! Several other very thoughtful blogs are linked from those two as well. As for mine, well, I have been thinking some thoughts, especially since I got my copy of Childfree and Sterilized: Women's Decisions and Medical Responses in the mail, but I'm not ready to talk about that yet.

I had a good weekend, full of fun and art.

1) I bought a new piano book and spent some time with it, and I must say I do enjoy playing. The finger strengthening exercises in the book will probably be great for my hands in general. Perhaps I'll stick with it for a while, why not?

2) My (chronologically) third comic, introducing Mariko the cat, is about half done--which is to say it's been drawn, inked and scanned. We all know I'm not so quick on the photoshopping, but I now have a web page with FAQ, dramatis personae, etc, all ready for it to plop into when it's done, and then I'll post the whole thing on my website. That should be some motivation for me.

3) I was hugely pleased with my sparring this weekend--not that I did so well, but that I felt nonchalant all through the class instead of feeling like it was something to be endured and survived. To the extent that TKD is important at all, that's really a big step. True, I was sparring people I'd sparred before and wasn't afraid of, but still.... quite good.

I forgot all about Easter, until I remembered and got worried that McGym would be closed. But it wasn't, and it was blissfully emptier than usual. The Christian holidays really are about peace... peace and quiet. No need to be religious to appreciate that. :)

One word of advice: you should all go to the nearest Trader Joe's or hippie grocery store immediately and buy some sunflower seed butter. The stuff is incredible, especially on a whole wheat bagel. Yum. I think I like it even better than almond butter.
