Nesting, holiday prep, and socializing

My nesting organs have been fully engorged by the combination of four days off work and the idea of visitors coming for New Year's. I've done many wonderful things that sound boring, like ordering a new comforter so that we'll have enough heavy blankets for the visitors, and making plans to get our knives sharpened. I took the cover off our giant beanbag so that it can squish out flatter, and greatly enjoyed the outcome, and took the cover to the cleaners along with a blanket we can't properly wash in our little washer. I bought wrapping paper to wrap all the stuff I ordered from Amazon on Friday.
I thought, rather a lot, about what I'd like my life to be like after I stop working full-time in tech.
Last night was especially good, in a social way: stimulating discussion over dinner with a friend (and I loved what I ordered: coconut rice with grilled swordfish, crab meat, mango and papaya), followed by coming home to bake up some leftover apple pie filling and take it to a party. Just as I was leaving, I read that a special new Pokemon was available to catch in North America, and on the way to the party I caught it, and the party had acro friends, and I might at one point have taken off my shirt to do some showoffy overhead acro with
bolson. I got tired a little while before we actually went home, but not too long before.
I hit a ton of my "maintenance" things at the gym yesterday, including the backbend one (which I've been worst at), so today at circus I tried to make handstands BETTER. I succeeded in straddling up to a two-block height, once, which may be a dumb record but it's my record. I also middled a 3-high that succeeded completely (controlled up, controlled down) and revived my loop-de-loop with a friend I will call Jazz. We used to do it last year but hadn't tried in quite a while.
Last night over dinner my friend told me that I seemed really happy in life overall, and that made me surprisingly happy to hear. How meta. :-)
