Bug signed an offer letter

flexagonOMG, this actually happened. After a weekend of talking to a lawyer about noncompete agreements and such, heisenbug chatted me yesterday to say he'd signed an offer letter. And I was all "!!!!" despite all the leadup because I think I really thought it wasn't happening.
So I was limp with relief already and then I had regular Monday night sexytimes with Lion, after which I collapsed like an overcooked noodle and fell asleep without brushing or flossing or working any more.
I know that signing something doesn't make it final either, and people sometimes start jobs only to find that they don't work out, etc, but surely a signed offer letter is significant, yes? He starts on Thursday for a 20-person AI research company.
