Life continues to be full: this week I hired someone (a fellow circus freak, even), took my team out to ice cream, ate lunch with ex-girlfriend Smitten who's moving away soon, had two practice sessions with my acro trio friends and came up with some neat transitions, and went to two parties. The first was [personal profile] coraline's Interdependence Day party for July 4, a concept I really liked... and the second was a birthday party for my injured ex-base, during which a whole table of people sang along to The Boxer for a while and it was very unembarrassed and lovely.

On Thursday I sat down for a "how are poly-ish things going" checkin with Lioness, because I'm a responsible metamour goddamnit. Overall this went pretty well. Apparently the current arrangement is less disruptive to her than she'd expected; I'm around more than anticipated but it's not necessarily a problem (true from my perspective also); she'd like better communication from Lion about when things are scheduled. She's glad I'm not a drama llama. (Hey, me too.) She's still pretty clear that there's something she doesn't want the me/Lion relationship to grow into, although that's not really about what activities are done and she's also not worried about the possible existence of Feelings. It's something else, currently maybe about commitments and expectations. So the bad news is that I'm still not sure what wouldn't be okay, aside from more publicly advertising our relationship... that's basically for them to work out though, and the current me/Lioness agreements seem to be holding up fine and don't need updates. I'm trying to look back on how much things evolved between me and [personal profile] heisenbug during our first couple of years of being open, and be patient and not too afraid. She did say that Lion seems happier and more relaxed with this in place, which was nice to hear.

My knee seems better. I've stopped with the ice and ibuprofen, stairs are not a problem, and I was able to do my pistols and Turkish Get-Ups yesterday with great care but no pain. Still not tempted to go running again.

I'm teaching HTML and CSS (the basics, obviously) to some college students tomorrow, and it's taking longer to prep than I'd hoped because there's all this newfangled CSS layout stuff to teach. What is this flexbox model you speak of? Also, grid layout? Damn it, when I was young we didn't have such fanciness and, more to the point, I had pre-existing slides to cover what we did have. Why does the curriculum change so much every year? Regardless, I'm learning some new CSS, and it will all be over after tomorrow. I've got the kids for the very first day of their summer thing, so this is the thing they have the most time to catch up on if Monday's teaching all goes to hell. And afterward I'll be busy with my own summer thing.

Oops, yes, I forgot the spaces after brackets so DW helpfully ate my "table". I think it's a good step, though I haven't really used it myself in any serious way.
