A very good, quite thoughtful article on the child / childfree choice, focused largely on perceptions and on the war over workplace/tax benefits that are perceived as going only to parents or to nonparents. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't mention the environmental issues at all.

I think the best thing that it highlighted was how the perspective is different on the two sides. It's important for both groups to refrain from thinking of it in terms of how the other is encroaching on their decisions...it's such a personal choice, nothing is gained from either side saying the other is "wrong". Though I would agree that the childbearing seem to be intruding more on the child-free's space. The nature of the beast I suppose.

On the subject of good reads, I was telling my Stepmother she had to read Dreamside...and when we got to the Half-Price Bookstore in TX, what did they have? Dreamside. And the other book you recommended, "The Tooth Fairy".

It was a good article, somewhat non-partisan, although I definitely think it comes out on the pro-kids side.
