Things I apparently do these days

Include:

• Collect mosquito bites (sigh).


• Work on holiday weekends trying to get the endless amount of work done by my horde of direct reports summarized in exactly this cycle's nitpicky way. It's so much harder than it used to be, now that there are separate word limits for different parts of the template -- and yet again I'll be in a new roomful of people with a new person leading the festivities, when these words are read and debated.


• Shop various online Labor Day sales to de-stress, then remember that my favorite brands are not American and don't care about our silly holidays. Also I'm a minimalist... aren't I? Oops. Try to stop scrolling through pages and pages of goth clothing.


• Find out I am being deposed for a legal case at work. *blink blink*


• Do 2/3 of my workout for the Aussie coach. Try to do more, fail because of not having time.


• Start this post last weekend, then not post it because of being in manager hell week at work; such persnickety, tightly formatted notes due on the last 6 months of 14 people's work. It's too many and the REAL shitshow is discussing all of them (ok ok just 12 of them) on Friday.


• Not post this on Friday either, because shitshow.


• Go ziplining with heisenbug and Helios and Perse, learn to my delight that this four-person group can spend a day together without anyone getting bent out of shape. Marvel at the trees and the natural world, after 6 days of intensely artificial bullshit. Introduce them all to My Dad Wrote a Porno, aka my favorite podcast, on the way back in the car.


• Have some truly fascinating discussions about a possible new part-time job direction, which this margin cannot contain.


• Tidy up the condo a whole lot. Six or seven 10-hr workdays have approximately the same effect as leaving three gremlins on the loose for a few hours.


• Continue to do my press handstand from lower and lower surfaces. Last week 13" was my new record and today it's 11". The form is not perfect but I figured out something ineffable about the shoulder push, regardless.


• Go out to fancy dinner to celebrate 18 years of marriage to heisenbug.


• Work some more on Sunday night.

SO MANY MOSQUITOES MY GOD. They’re brutal this year, I’ve been told partly the damp and maybe partly a new invasive species that’s more active during the day?

OMG, it's not just me?? They've bitten my feet a lot recently, which is just torture. And now I know about the Asian tiger mosquito.

This is the worst time of the year for my job. But I have some stuff coming in from Fire Mountain Gems next week, and I wonder if you might like to be crafty sometime after the 24th?

and yes! I have been thinking about emailing to go for a walk or something and then failing to make plans with literally anybody and hiding under a rock.
