Cozy holidays for me, just as predicted. We went to celebrate with Helios/Perse, and there was some household-merging with his older housemates and newer ones, and I spent a little time making my boys pretty by painting Helios's nails gold (hello, skirted pirate squirrel) and braiding the bug's hair. Bug and I both helped Perse cook some kale. There was a lot of food, and later some playing of music by the four musicians present (while I worked on a papercraft thing and some folks crocheted) and it was delightful to watch that happen. [personal profile] heisenbug said later that he thought it was great, which made me especially happy since it was his first time over there.

Hmm, and I may have put a few hours into a fancy apple pie, and now I have extra crust in the freezer for Christmas.

Before that, I went rock climbing with a person who might become a new friend? I know her from LCS but now we have done the all-important decontextualization step of meeting up somewhere else. I learned that I like top-roping on walls with long gentle overhangs, because all the grips are great and it's easier to keep the arms straight.

I've still been avoiding new projects, but that may be coming to an end; we watched the latest student show from LCS, and every single act was an aerial one. Grrrr. I found myself simultaneously thinking that I'd love to see a ground act even if it sucked, and the usual brain-weasel: that nobody wants to watch me flail around for four minutes. And then of my own solo act idea, which has been on hold for 18+ months, and which I'm in a perfect position to work on with the Monk gone and me being on leave. I have a costume, music, apparatus, a spreadsheet of the music with an initial 60 seconds of choreo, time to work on the rest -- it really feels like time to revive that. I theoretically know perfectly well that I'm an intermediate-to-advanced student who can put together a watchable act and fairly consistently catch a handstand, especially if all the shows are on video right now.

Small projects include reading down all the books on my physical to-read shelf (I think I can finish before Xmas), ordering some new storage for the living room, giving away various stuff on Everything Is Free groups, and ripping up the carpet from our internal stairs. So far each step takes me 20 minutes and it's hard work, so I'm thinking maybe I'll do an hour per day, or even every other day, and see how that goes. The wood underneath the carpet seems nice so far.

We need not talk about Omicron... nope. I get boosted next Friday.
