Various ramblings regarding the weekend
May. 10th, 2004 09:49 amFriday we went and bought new air conditioners--I'm very proud of us for not waiting until August like we did last time we needed them! The new ones are way cheaper, smaller, cuter, more efficient and probably quieter than the old clunkers we got rid of before we moved. Good.
Saturday I was social... I went to TKD (wheel kicks went well, yay!) and went to Kitchen Etc with AJ, and then HLM and I went for dinner and dessert (at two separate places, yes I hear you calling me a yuppie) with B and D. It was fun, but I sort of felt overloaded on people after that. Sunday I didn't speak to anyone but HLM, and I spent a long time scrubbing grime off the walls of our front hallway with TSP, a truly frightening cleanser they sold me for that purpose at Tags along with the color-matched paint I was there for. (You have to not only wear gloves while using this stuff, but wipe it off the walls with water after using it. Yipes. On the other hand, it removed tons of grime, and also got the hideous embarrassing grease off the side of our refrigerator--yes, the stuff even Goo Gone couldn't make go away. So, whatever it is, I like it.) Scrub scrub, spackle spackle. Lifted weights, heavy weights, many times. Went to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with HLM, which reminded me just how into the concept of perfect romantic love this culture is--hey, let's try something again knowing it didn't work before! It'll be so schmoopy! Uh... no. 2 scary 4 me. So we got groceries and I went to sleep without thinking about it too hard. It was actually a pretty good weekend, though I regret not having time to draw a comic or paint the hallway.
As for Mother's Day... I called her. She wasn't home. I left a message and left. When we got back she left a message in that over-enthusiastic tone she has, and I forgot to call again. Bleh.
