Prepping and then starting vacation

Last week was a "no meeting" week, which coincided with a "no Tuesday date" week (the squirrel was in NYC), and all of this coincided with a really hard push on my side to get the email pile at work nibbled down before a week's vacation. I had to overcome a couple of ugh fields, but I did it -- more than 300 emails in 3 days, getting almost down to zero by the end of the week. Then I went out -- I'm off this entire next week -- guaranteeing that there'll be a new email backlog to return to. :P

Vacation is pretty chill so far. On Saturday I took the squirrel to a hilarious minigolf place with a "mad science" theme, after which I got a passionfruit gin & tonic that completely knocked me on my ass. All this was after a dance lift workshop (got to see the Monk, always good). Recovered from that. Yesterday I was social a lot, today I plan to read a lot. My first of two donations to my college went through without a hitch, so that was good too. Everyone wants to know what I want to do for my actual birthday but I'm already pretty content, and already did a party 2 weeks early with the bug, so I am being hand-wavey.

I might have a new gym friend? Someone I've known for a long time around circus school, but I think she just figured out that I'm actually nice. She's signed up for my normie gym and is excited to schedule times we can work out in parallel... on Sunday we did that, and ended up doing a tiny bit of acro playing! I know she's borrowing gym-confidence from being with me, but I do think she likes me, too. I'll take it. In the meantime, I also applied to a four-day research thing where one of my teachers wants to explore acro vocabulary with an all-femme ensemble... I've been wondering what role partnering can play in my circus life now, and I base/fly/middle and am getting interested in working with someone my own size, so this might be a really cool thing for me to do. Maybe maybe. I think my odds of being selected are pretty good but not 100%, depending on what the teacher wants to do.

The positive updates are super boring. I know.

Me, I'm having lunch (that I didn't have to cook) right now overlooking Lake Union and enjoying the currently lovely Seattle weather. (No smoke here at the moment - hoping yours lifts soon!)

Or even from one coast to the same, since I've shifted position by a few thousand miles since my previous comment. At the moment I'm in "CAM-2CC", and I'm hoping to have time to see the 3CC and 8CC spaces while I'm in town. (I didn't say why I hoped your smoke lifted, did I? :-)
