BIVALVE

I'm an ignorant bivalve.
In my shell I hide.
I don't go out much.
It's dark here inside.

I could be an oyster.
I could be a clam.
I can't see a thing.
I don't know what I am.

I could be a scallop.
I could be a mussel.
My name could be Alice,
or Alex, or Russell.

I might be an oyster
possessed of a pearl.
I think I'm a boy but
I could be a girl.

I sit here a wordless
Tongue in a mouth
While the tide rolls me North,

Thanks! Me too. I especially like the implication that you don't HAVE to freak out over not knowing what you are... you can just sit back, feel the ocean and go "hmmmmm".

I, of course, prefer to freak out, but whatever. ;)

Dual purposes accomplished! Really, I'm craving lobster. That's what that butter reference was all about. And even though I live on the damn ocean, it's still like $25/pound.
