Writing, Queen, gold and gaming

flexagonWork: the important part is that I kicked out decent drafts of two closely related PRDs in two evenings, Monday and Tuesday. That was the single biggest thing (pair of things) I'd hoped to do, and I kind of lost control of the week later but at least I'm glad it was after that.
Wednesday I went to see a Queen cover band, possibly the best one around; the singer, Marc Martel, did Freddie Mercury's singing for the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. In this case the band was sharing the stage with the Boston Pops (we had to listen to Gershwin before getting to the Queen) for a very full overall effect.
Thursday I was shown a lot of gold jewelry by the squirrel's mom, who is visiting all month. Some was pretty and/or sentimental but not all of it. I've learned that in places where there's historically been a lot more conflict, people keep a lot more of their net worth in forms like gold, rather than any nationally backed currency, for times when you can't count on the nations. That was interesting for me to learn about. Also, it's fairly difficult to transfer a lot of wealth out of India. There are a lot of laws aimed at keeping it in the country. So some of it was, essentially, a savings account.
I then played a lot of the video games mentioned last time. Animal Well with the squirrel on Thursday, and Little Kitty, Big City with the bug on Friday. Animal Well would have been an amazing binge if I weren't trying to play it with someone and didn't have travel... or a job. I hope that in some other universe I played for 12 hours straight and scrambled my brain.
Now I'm on the plane, waiting to take off for DC . This trip will probably get its own entry. Oh -- I also found out this week, while my focus was still on work, that my dad is going to have open heart surgery in June. Valve replacement and one bypass, possibly two. I don't know the date yet, or whether I'm going to honor his wishes on not going out there.
