Hop water and so much fussing

I forgot to mention my weirdest new discovery from the visiting friends: hop water! More specifically the evenkeel brand of hop water. Based on, well, beer, I always thought I hated hops! So this is how I learned that there are different kinds of hops, and citra hops are a kind I apparently like. Plus in this case there's a touch of elderflower.
There is so much financial faffing about to do at the beginning of the year. Friday was the first paycheck date of the year, and I've already messed up the order in which to do my retirement savings contributions (which I'm front-loading for obvious reasons). I changed my withholdings and it will all work out by the end of February if I don't get laid off. I've also done my big download of all expenses for 2024, subtracting out the stuff I definitely wouldn't have done if retired (all those donations to the Harris campaign... ouch, looking those up sure gave me some feelings). It was still an expensive year, mostly thanks to all the family-related travel and eldercare, but not unprecedented. It's fine in isolation as long as that shit doesn't become a habit. Then I filled out some stuff related to insurance policies, and spent a couple of hours going over all the 2024 action in the rental units' bank account so we understand what happened there (it was way simpler than last year). We've now also paid for our home and umbrella insurance for the year, and that brings the proverbial ducks juuuuuuuust about into alignment.
And now I am behind schedule, and will try to work out and also get ready for squirrel-date.
