I got the job, pretty much; they want to give me an offer, and clearly they were pretty decisive about it since I just walked out of there 2 hours ago. But apparently there's one more hoop to jump through: they want more references.

I have a little better feel now for how the job will actually be, and they schedule pretty tightly, so it sounds like I'd have to actually work pretty much all the time (I know... what? No LJ all day?) And the office space will be cramped (multiple office-mates), but it does have a window, so I won't have broken my no-window vow. Yay, oh that makes me so unbelievably relieved. :)

Also, it doesn't look like they're coming back with an ultra-crazy salary offer, so far, although it will still be an almost-10-percent raise and, face it, they will be providing me with a fair bit of training. Shrug... there's the "demand a lot at the beginning" viewpoint, and then there's the one that says "don't worry about where you start, you'll be paid what you're worth soon enough." Despite recent friendly advice, I would have to say my experience so far favors the latter... a lot of this is the vesting, but I make almost 40% more than I did when I first started at DSB. Even my take-home pay is way more than enough to live on.

Anyway, I "should" be elated right now, but screw should, I'm dead tired, and I still haven't gotten any work done. I know this is the right professional move, and I'll make it, but that doesn't make me any more rested at the moment, you know?

Tonight HLM and I are going to see Harry Potter. That will be nice.

See? Worried for nothing. Have fun at Harry Potter. I think tomorrow afternoon I'm heading to see 'Chronicles of Riddick' since I loved 'Pitch Black.' I might try to go by myself to see Harry Potter on sunday, doubt it though.

Congratulations! That's awesome. :-D

Not to beat a dead horse, but another friend of mine was promoting the 'demand a lot at the beginning' viewpoint recently. He's not in our field though, so take it for what it's worth.

Hope you got lots of good rest.
