A Tom Swiftie that popped into my head...
Oct. 4th, 2004 08:04 am"I'm not interested in working on-site", Tom whispered remotely.
Ahahahahahahaha.
I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow yesterday, by the way, and feel compelled to issue a public service announcement: AVOID THIS MOVIE. Because it shows two people climbing a ladder inside an accelerating spaceship, apparently in normal gravity (this is the part where I started laughing hysterically and gave up entirely on liking the thing). Because it has a guy who's famous at age 17 and then, something like 30 years later, can't be looked up in any library available to a journalist. And I'm forgiving it some unexplained escapes, people randomly knowing things that it doesn't make sense they would know, and planes that can fly underwater... hey, it was SF of a sort, and I want to prove I can cut a movie some slack. Ignoring 7 gees though... yeah, right. It's too bad, too, because it had some interesting foreground/background effects and started off very cool and detective-storyish. But by the end I was just offended. Ah well.
