Little good things

Over the last 2 days I've unpacked and set up my new Dell... funny, I've already forgotten the technical specs of the box itself (fast and big, of course it's fast and big, seems as if one can't buy a new computer that isn't fast and big.) Oddly, the one relevant dimension of my new 20" flat-panel monitor remains in the forefront of my head. Pretty. I could've gotten the 24" and I did think about it, but the 20 is awfully nice too. Playing the Sims 2 on this thing, if I ever get around to it, is going to be a joy.

Then, also over the last two days, I found out that grrwoo randomly sponsored me to get into childfree30plus, a very tightly maintained and low-drama comm that tries to weed out the overly excitable young but will bend its rules if a member recommends a person. That was really nice of him! My plan is to hang out there for a while, and when I have gained some credibility I'll sponsor miyyu if she is interested. What do you think... interested? :)

I have about 7 things I want to post about, but I also have about 7 minutes to get out the door if I want to catch my preferred bus. Ack! Life is so much better in Boston. But also, there are these schedule things.

I'm jealous at the moment. I need a new computer badly. Just not sure how to pull off the financing of one without draining my savings account. I might just buy one part at a time until I have the whole thing completed.

Ah. I'm guessing you're still a bit house-poor? No need to be jealous, I doubt this system would be good enough for the games you want to play. I forgot its specs but it's NOT super ultra high end. I think it's 2.2 GHz with an 80 gig hard drive and a medium video card.

Ooh, yes please! I left all the other CF communities on LJ because they were bitter and mean and so full of drama it wasn't worth reading them. There were a few good people there, but they tended to leave rather quickly, like you did.

You feel that way about childfree_zone as well? I have found it pretty low on all those scales. It is too low-traffic though.

I haven't ever joined that one precisely because it is so low traffic it always looks inactive to me.

Oh, you're definitely missing out. It's not inactive at all, just a bit slow (as is childfree30plus), because the members have lives. :)

Nice, it's like a whole new computer family right now. I WANT MINE NOW NOW NOW NOW, but I probably won't get it till monday. Perhaps a viewing party should happen soon, I would love to see your display!

As far as childfree30plus goes, it sounds like the perfect community for you. :) Have fun in there!
