1) Most of you know I went to see the Boston Babydolls last night so I could see [livejournal.com profile] serrin's contortion act. So now I know what a burlesque show consists of: basically, a lot of stripteases in which women start off in dresses and end up in underwear and pasties. These got boring near the end, because the very last thing to be shown was usually the breasts. It's like, BOOBIES! You've now seen the most interesting thing, which are BOOBIES (shakety shake), so... act over! The very best of them, I thought, was a girl who got down to the pasties very quickly while still wearing a long skirt. She was a good dancer and kept the audience interested for quite a while after that. The others could've learned a lesson from her. And from [livejournal.com profile] serrin, of course, who stayed in her costume and still had people drooling. (I, personally, was torn. Did I want to stroke her adorably curving back, or did I just want to be her? Hmm. Be her, I think.)

Oh, and I also want to be a striptease artist now, because I have to admit it looked fun, and not beyond the realm of the possible. :) They do offer a 3-hr class on how to do it... anyone want to take it with me sometime?

2) My squatting muscles do not like taking time off. Oh, sure, I bought into that last Sunday when I was sick, and chose to do 25 mins very slow cardio instead because I was so exhausted. Seemed like a good idea at the time. But after my very first set today, at a rather moderate warmup weight, I got blinding cramps running from knee to knee... they almost put me on the floor. I stopped, stretched it out and made it through one more set before deciding that 'normal' was way too ambitious. UGH. Next time I am sick, I'll simply do what I can, but I'll be squatting. And in the meantime I'll just try again on Thursday.

3) I got my hair cut yesterday. Your votes were counted. I just got 4 inches off, so my hair no longer touches my pants but it's well past bra-strap length too. To me, it looks a little more under control than it did, and the guy outside the CVS selling Spare Change just complimented it... after I said I didn't want to buy a paper. So I think we can assume this is a happy ending for all concerned.

PSA for the locals: I found out today that Filene's and Macy's are merging. If there's something you want from the Filene's in Downtown Crossing, go soon, because the location only has a couple of months to live. Likewise, don't buy anything there if you might want to return it. I found this out while buying a coat today. It feels odd to think of it going away... I've been going there for 10 years. But already I can feel my mental image of the area adapting.

And now I really, really need to get started on my story for the week. Gah. I have procrastinated wayyyyythehell too long.
