New Jersey was boring, but whaddaya expect from New Jersey? At least the meeting we went down there for was productive, and I also got the chance to expand my palate (and my ass) with a huge dinner at a fancy French place. The meal depended heavily on, but by no means consisted entirely of, foie gras, duck and chocolate soufflé. Tasted good but I felt kinda nasty that night, and the next day I ate only a small breakfast and still didn't get hungry until 1:00 or so. With my metabolism! Ugh. Burn baby burn... please. :(

I have my annual checkup at the doctor's at noon today. I was debating whether to have coffee, given that they're about to measure my blood pressure & heart rate, and to my surprise I read in a couple of different places (here's one) that the half-life of caffeine is increased to around 12 hours in women who take oral contraceptives. That's me. So now I have my nice hot cup of raspberry herbal tea.

Well, I weighed a tad more than I thought (what I normally weigh instead of inexplicably skinnier as according to our home scale, that is, so that's fine), but apparently I checked out just beautifully. The nurse measured my heart rate at forty-seven. Forty-seven!! I will have no more doubts about whether tae kwon do is good cardio. Part of me still wonders if it could really have been that low, though, and wants a heart rate monitor to carry around.

So I decided to break down and buy Bodymakers for myself tonight, but none of the 3 major booksellers in Harvard Square have a copy. *snivel* So I got it used on Amazon for half-price... which removes the guilt of buying a new book, but means I can't have it tonight. :(

It seems so dead around here without [livejournal.com profile] rumgirl around. I am dissatisfied. Come back, rum-dawg!
