Mwa ha ha. I came in to work for just 2-3 hours last night... something I was actually glad to do, since I owe DSB some hours and this makes me look good... and it was just GUI twidding anyway, pretty fun... and who's here but the CEO. He stopped by and talked to me on his way out, and obviously I got some "CEO caught me here on the weekend" points. Ah.... score.

Not that much went on this weekend--nothing social at all. I did sit down on Sat morning and plow my way though the rest of The Two-Income Trap... Two-Income Trap reaction part two: not a rant this time. )

All I did on the condo is sort a bunch of papers and throw out all my old/mismatched socks, the results of which are not very visible. I did do some interesting cooking though, and dutifully kept the flex in flexagon by putting in my gymtime. (I have to say--with the exception of pushups, everything seems heavier when what I'm lifting is me. Goddamn squats. Painful!)

However... I got my tax return. Ah, sweeeeeet money. I paid off my entire McGym membership right away, because that saved me close to $200 (and cut out a recurring fee for the next 3 years). Then I put some away so I can retroactively have been saving a bit over the last two months when I really wasn't, but wanted to be. The rest? Well, considering things, I'm thinkin' I'll just sit on it, thanks. I was going to pay HLM back the $1300 I owed him from condo-buying time, but he feels guilty and doesn't want it back, so we've agreed to spend it on some of the carpentry and electrical work we want to get done. (We've definitely entered the phase of longing for improvements we can't afford, but we should be able to afford that much.)

The scale at McGym yesterday told me I was turning into a whale, but this morning's weigh-in at home said I weigh just what a flexagon should. So, bah to you, whale-scale.

Area Gen-Xer [livejournal.com profile] flexagon felt familiar, nasty stirrings of jealousy in her gut upon hearing that yet another friend had bought a nice house in the boonies, sources reported this afternoon. The house in question is two stories tall and has 2100 square feet, and doubtless cost less than the 900 square feet of 100-year-old condo currently occupied by Flex and her husband. The house was described as "awesome", although it sits on a "so-so" lot that was not included in the purchase price. Independent analysis of the floorplan confirmed the accuracy of that description.

All stirrings ceased abruptly when [livejournal.com profile] flexagon remembered that the friend is planning to fill the awesome space with babies and baby-related little plastic things, then spend the next 15 years fighting with his wife-to-be over whether to raise them Catholic. Her mood was further lifted by an order placed with Amazon.com several minutes later.
