Yesterday was HLM's and my sixth anniversary. I had a great day, and we ended by celebrating Boston-style... which is to say we dressed nicely, wandered around Harvard Square buying CDs and books, then had cheap burritos at the Wrap and expensive dessert at Finale. I think we both agree it's been a good 110 years--which is what the 'red red white' means, for those who don't know our nerdy rituals. Six in binary and spelled out in roses. :)

My Zen-saying-a-day calendar and I have had a falling-out though. What do you think of when you imagine someone selling water by the bank of a river? Do you think of a nice vendor-man peacefully selling Evian down on the Esplanade by the Charles? That's what I thought of, and it sounded like a pleasant enough way to make a living. So it took me a while to get this one:

For forty years I've been selling water by the bank of a river. Ho, ho! My labors have been totally without merit. -- Sogaku Harada

And suddenly I was enlightened and realized this is not the calendar for me. I hereby plan to give up, acknowledge my flow-over-zen tendencies, rip through the entire year and make a post of all the quotes I do like.
