Threesome, ecobee, movie
Mar. 16th, 2019 10:28 pmAnnnnnd it's been another week of working every day. Even worse, things were due literally every day this week. But most of this cycle's performance grading is over now, my new managers have learned that process, and the seating chart for our next office move is officially in. That seating chart also shows an upcoming transfer whose deal I finally sealed on Wednesday, for a final victory. I was so trashed after the 6.5-hr grading meeting on Thursday that I just wandered around doing physical cleanup of the team space... after some reshuffling I labeled two shelves as "Stuff" and one empty one as "Stuff that Sparks Joy" with one book on it, and I'm gonna give people a chance but damned if we're moving any of the things on the "Stuff" shelves when the time comes.
Then on Friday we had a lovely threesome with a lovely friend who hadn't ever joined us before, and I felt HUMAN AGAIN and as if relaxation were a possible thing. I didn't get as much of a novelty rush from her presence as I think I usually do with new partners, which might have come partly from knowing her pretty well already, but she was sweet and funny and I was comfortable.
Since you are all starting to worry about my sanity (rightfully), let me also state that I signed up for a 3-week vacation later in the spring. I'll be going full-disconnect, "only call me if someone's physically on fire", with very few agenda items. Whether I travel will probably depend on how Nala is doing. So I will get a break, a real break, not just this "hey, I'm so proud of myself, I took a whole Saturday off -- I mean I'm really not counting the 20 minutes this morning" thing from today. If you have good ideas of plans or things I could do, then... hah, then you can stuff it. Unstructured time is the point for things like this.
I spent time today installing an ecobee thermostat, which is honestly exciting since (once I set up the remote room sensors) I may soon have a chance of being warm enough when I'm in our office. I felt like a badass doing the wires, even though it was all simple stuff, and now I can control my thermostat from my phone like a boss.
To keep myself from working and because
drwex convinced me, I also saw Captain Marvel this evening. Hahaha, the Bechdel test was crushed, and how lovely to see that. I'm not sure the four(?) major female characters spend any time talking about men at all (even to cover why one of them appears to be a single mother), and the title character is never wearing anything skimpier than a T-shirt. As if that weren't enough, there's a cat who steals every scene he's in. I'm very satisfied with this as an example of its genre. Whoever said it was about female power, rather than entitlement, is dead on. Also, excellent montage scene on the line "You're right, I am only human."
I may have partaken of a vape thing a while back. Should post this, and look back later on to see whether I sound high.
