Just picking up pieces
Nov. 19th, 2023 09:40 pmI... might not have a lot to say about the last week. I spent it just picking pieces of my life back up, but slowly, because the day after Hypercube died I woke up with a stupid cold. It was really good to have Caltrop still in the house, demanding attention and wanting to play; the house is sad but it is not without playfulness or cat-essence. I got all of Hypercube's papers recycled, gave away her medicines, and got her marked as deceased in various places; the crematorium sent us a paw print. My brain played tricks on me for a while (the last time you took a shower, she was alive) and then mostly stopped.
I got some weird rashes and an acne breakout, all of which I blame on Costa Rica. But it was good to be back in my warm, dry bed, and to reconnect with my partners.
Two things of interest. I saw some pole dancers at a competition while on a date with the squirrel, and discovered this performer who is absolutely amazing. And I'm going to start leading another team at work, which was probably inevitable and is of some interest. I didn't ask for it but I've decided not to fight it either; I can see how it solves some problems for my director, who I like, and it should be OK for me too. Two teams is still within my comfort zone.
Tonight I video chatted with
apfelsingail for a while, and wrapped Christmas presents. There are still some life-pieces lying on the ground, but things are on their way back toward feeling in control. The upcoming workweek will be both short and quiet, and I'm looking forward to some head-down time catching up on things there too.
