(That's the title of a William Sleator book about mindreading... and thus seeing how others perceive you. Not his best, but it came to mind for reasons that will be obvious.)

We have this new intern at our office; I'll call her Patricia for no good reason whatsoever. She's small, and is really pretty and dresses a little funky... but she's very businesslike and brusque and has a kind of harsh voice. She's not mean, I'm sure, it's just that "as a brand new intern, I'm afraid to be anything other than serious and worky just yet" dynamic. Anyway, I thought at first the attitude/looks thing was a weird juxtaposition, for about 5 seconds, until I realized it really reminded me of, um, me. (Naturally, my overall impression of her is extremely positive.. heh. Funny but true.) I've wondered before about whether I come off as sort of disjointed sometimes for similar reasons (my voice, ugh... and of course I can be brusque and worky myself). I guess almost nobody acts and sounds quite as they first appear though--and that's probably a good thing.

I'm relaaaaaxed today. No need to be on IM waiting for baby news... found the bug I spent all day yesterday looking for... and lunch is on the company today and it's barbeque. Sometimes it seems lately that I don't even have days, they go so fast. I just have weeks. But today is seeming like its own entity so far.

Yeah, I feel that too. There is no day/night anymore. Day/night has turned into Week/Weekend. Week/Weekend has turned into Month/year. Month/year has turned into... "Where the fuck did last year go?"

Time is definitely flying...

I've always thought it would be interesting to see how people really see you at first. Interesting and horrifying.
