Play for today

Today I passed my barely-there beading skills on to a new friend. (A new cryptographer friend. She is cool.) I provided instructions, pliers, and of course some demonstration...

• Both pairs of leaf earrings are from the same way-too-busy pair of earrings I bought from Claire's last week... and I still have pieces left.
• The black earrings were made from two pairs of earrings I didn't especially care for -- but I liked the dangly bit of one pair and the hook (with black bead) on the other pair.
• The ones on the far right were made from an old necklace (I only bought the red beads).
• The pearl necklace came out better than I had hoped for. It's probably a Christmas present, but I'll probably wear it a few times before giving it away.

hey, cool, i am way impressed! these all turned out great, and i love that you recycled bits and pieces of other jewelry.
i would looove to have a beading/jewelry friend. i've dabbled in it for a long time, though not like i have transferrable skills. still, it would be fun!

Ha, thanks. I bet your skillz are at least as mad as mine!

I have at least one more pearl necklace to make, and just ordered more pearls for the earrings I need (I lost a favorite earring and decided to remake them myself this time rather than paying a jeweler tons of money). When I get them I'll give you a call! It's gotta be at your place though... I am dying to see your squirrel-babies again. :)

or if you're up for it we can go to harvard square together and do "beadworks and then alycat's place". or, you know, "starbucks and beadworks and then alycat's place." that's fun too! plus I need more beads anyway.

I was totally not scared off by the pee. I may bring an extra top with me when we bead, though, just so I don't have to worry about it. ;)

When I first saw the picture, I thought you'd made a beaded plate. So I'm sitting here thinking, wow, that's really pretty, but how do you eat off it... then slowly the light dawned.

(And you ought to've seen the hoochie earrings I started with. Each one had a big leaf, with a little leaf in front of it and in front of all THAT was a dangly cluster of little clear beads and little silver rings. But I had faith that a nice pair of earrings was in there somewhere, just begging to come out.)
