Pretty amazing grace

Sometimes a person tries and tries to do something, and finally one day they succeed for the first time. How often is that person in a room full of people who know it's her first time, and who burst into genuinely happy-for-her applause?

Yeah, I successfully jumped into crow (from a short down dog) for the first time tonight during a lull in acroyoga class. It felt AWESOME, both the landing and the applause. Thank you, world!

(This was good too. Last night. Scary though! I'm told the next step is to pick up the free foot and extend the leg.)

Intriguing notion, but somehow I always associate breakdancing with bruises. I hate bruises. Is my impression inaccurate?

*grin* I feel short too, now that I'm back on the ground!!

Crow is this. The idea with the move I just learned is that you start with feet several feet back from hands and jump forward/up onto your arms. The fear, of course, is of doing a faceplant.

It sure was at first - yes yes yes!

But the craziest thing about last night was how relaxed I felt when I brought the second foot back to where it should be. Especially with that particular base, I'm getting quite comfy with a basic two-high.

I really thought that breakdancing has moves (dropping to knees and so forth) that will basically always bruise a girl up, even if they're done right.

Um, sorta...but you learn to fall and do moves properly and it helps prevent that. Just like gymnastics, there is a learning curve and you WILL fall and you WILL hurt yourself at times.

That is some pretty kickass stuff there. I told some people at orientation this weekend about you and acroyoga, and they were suitably impressed. So, not only do you have people who know your name cheering for you (which is pretty much one of the best feelings there is!), you also have a bunch of people who don't know it running around impressed with you. :)
