Went to [livejournal.com profile] ellenclaire's acro class tonight and learned that straddle throne can be done on hands, overhead -- very cool. I knew I'd see a few people I know, but I also ran into [livejournal.com profile] le_coeur_chante as a nice extra surprise. And this was tonight, grainy but good:

Tomorrow I'm going to Zacro and Wednesday to acroyoga. So for those who are keeping track of these things, note that it's now possible to live in Boston and take THREE DIFFERENT ACRO CLASSES on three consecutive days! And there's still [livejournal.com profile] dilletante's silks group in JP, and some parkour groups, and some gymnastics going on at MIT that I'm not involved with at all. People, this is not the town it was two years ago... and I'm so happy about that. :D

Coming back to a two-high from this one can be treacherous. (Possible, of course, but not a thing we teach in a group where we can't spot everyone doing it - the base ends up in an awkward weigh-bearing position for a few moments.)
It's much easier to nail the dismount to shoulder sit when the base is standing, because the base can adjust (by taking a tiny step forward or backward) to catch the flyer in the right spot. It's also crucial that the flyer unhook her toes and extend the legs out into a straddle, which most people weren't doing completely. :)
