I did my bit to support the economy today... made my first purchases ever at Lululemon, where I restrained myself to one pair of crops, one top and one thong. Now I know my size, and can compare these legendary pants head-to-head with the Athleta ones I mail-ordered. Yoga wars! The victor will get my repeat business.
Then I went to the Fluevog store to try these on in person, after years of lusting after them online:

But they didn't have my size, and these are what came home with me. The moment I tried them on, I knew they fit. REALLY fit. And despite how small they make my feet look, the toe box is wide enough that there's zero pressure on my toes.

miyyu recently listed Clarks as a shoe brand that she's willing to pay for because of the quality. Fluevogs definitely mean quality to me... the prices hurt, but my last purchase was in 1999 and I'm still wearing those boots. Josef Seibel, Mephisto and Merrell are on my list too.

I hated crocs until they started making the nice light sandals. I get 30% off from crocs.com through my job, which of course I'm not supposed to pass on, but I could always buy a gift for you... just let me know ;)

Shoes!
Date: 2010-02-28 11:31 am (UTC)I second the approval for Clarks. I bought a pair in England and they died about 4 years later only because I had worn the heels on the outside enough that I started slipping when I walked. I currently own and wear everyday another pair of Clarks that I bought two years ago. I wear them 99% of the time, polish them occasionally and they still feel and look fantastic.
I did not know there was a Fluevog store in Boston. I will add that to my list of things to do once I get there. (Which may be sooner than not. :D )
Re: Shoes!
Date: 2010-02-28 09:31 pm (UTC)There sure is a Fluevog store in Boston... and a Lululemon store, and a Saucony outlet, and a dreadful number of other "brand" stores. It's convenient, yet bad at the same time.
I'll see about a picture tomorrow. When are you coming to visit?

Date: 2010-02-28 10:30 pm (UTC)I'm getting pickier as I get older. I don't really want things any more unless they make me go "oh yeah" immediately.

Date: 2010-02-28 03:55 pm (UTC)I've been trying to ignore the Operettas, the big toe box looks like it might work with my messed up feet, but I keep telling myself that the toe curls up too much. *covers eyes and stops looking at the Fluevog site* :)
