Pictorial diary of an attempted splurge

Well, I did it... I tried to do it... I splurged on the luscious Babycakes, managing to order my size from the NYC store. To my distress, they are not made for my foot shape; these managed to be too short and hurt my big toe, while also being too loose around the instep area. Things were not okay with socks, they were not okay after I trimmed my toenails and put on tights, they would not have been okay if I had tried them on years ago.

I did the only thing that seemed reasonable: a brief photo shoot. I was working from home so I could sign for the package, so why not?




I introduced them to my kitty and my other Fluevogs (click for bigger).



Then I put on last week's Operettas, which really do fit.





They don't seem like as much of a splurge anymore, now that I remember how hard it is to find things that fit so well. I'm sad that the Babycakes didn't work out (they'll go back to the Boston store this weekend), but at the same time I'm oddly glad that I found it in myself to at least try.

It's just been in the past year that I've started wearing mini skirts, but I'm picky about the fit and always pair them with opaque tights. I also tend to wear them to events that involve mostly standing rather than sitting. :)
