Emotional benefits of technology

Riding the Zillian shuttle "home" to the corporate apartments last night, I remembered how confusing the route has always seemed to me, how I have no idea how close we are to the destination until suddenly we're there.
Last night I called up the map on my Android phone, and just watched the GPS the entire time I was on the shuttle. It was quite comforting to never feel lost, and always remain sure we were going in the right direction, despite the weird alternation of big roads and little roads.
So here's a big hug to all the inventors of GPS everywhere, who probably never thought of a lonely engineer on unfamilar roads but who helped me anyway.
