Finished The Name of the Wind. With the sequel coming out tomorrow, how can I resist a few predictions and thoughts?

  • I think Auri is a master Namer. She's kind of crazy, and who goes crazy more often than people who study Naming? Besides, look at the names she carefully gives to places in the Underthing.

  • Kvothe is going to have to keep his promise to Devi about sharing his secret way of getting into the Archives. I'm surprised she didn't bother him about this already, when he went to pay off his 4-talent debt and buy his vial of blood back from her. Maybe she did, in fact, and we just haven't heard about it yet.

  • I doubt we've seen the last of Abenthy the childhood teacher... or Skarpi the storyteller. I even kind of wonder about Pike from Tarbean.

I'll be wearing my Eolian t-shirt tomorrow for sure (it's advertising a bar that plays a large role in The Name of the Wind; note the pipes.)

As a side note, I also like this one, which is possibly a little more attractive/artsy as seen by people who have no idea what it's about or what it's depicting...

Tomorrow morning. Oh yeah. And then to try to save the reading for Friday's bus ride down to NYC... where there's a partner acro workshop I haven't even mentioned yet.

I'm bummed that The Name of the Wind seems to be available on Kindle, but not on Google Books... Oh well. Time to take a break from the books you loaned me, for one to be read... electronically!

new book for my list!
