As of today, I have a direct report -- which is to say, I'm a manager. I am somebody's boss. In three months I'll have more.

It was a 12-hour day and it felt soooo much longer because of the head explodey. I talked to HR a bunch, and moved my desk (again) and figured out temporary team seating. Honestly, 90% of this whole management thing so far is about seating.

(I'm going to have to make a non-Zillian group on LJ soon, so that I can rant a bit without ratting out my peeps to anyone. It was one thing when I was a TL, but now it would feel really wrong.)

congrats! and please count me in on your non-zillian filter. i've appreciated reading about your management insights and honest engagement with your teammates. my career path looks very different, and seeing how another partnered woman with no kids goes about her career is interesting and helpful.
