Today was my fourteenth anniversary with heisenbug.

I barely saw him, because I had my standing acro-date with Scooper at Zillian tonight, and Thursday is just as good a day for us to celebrate (the bug, in fact, is a bit sick and will probably be feeling better on Thursday than he would have tonight).

A comparison: at dinner one of the bases, Heatwave, was saying he maybe can't go to Honeybadger training because his girlfriend takes such a dim view of acro. (I had offered to have coffee with her if she wanted another take on the acro thing, and apparently that offer went over like a lead balloon... sigh.) It threw things into kind of stark relief when I mentioned my anniversary and how we'd moved our celebration. Heatwave looked at me bug-eyed when I said "fourteen", too, and asked if we'd gotten together when we were like ten. (I replied, have you ever read Lolita?)

I like our partnership so very much! Sooooooo much better than that! I get to do acro, even on my anniversary, and come home and snuggle and it is the best. Sometimes love is leaving someone alone. And... romantic dinner to follow in two days.

Acro can look kind of sexual -- certainly it tends to involve posting lots of pictures of oneself showing off, in close physical contact with members of the opposite sex (who are usually attractive since they're probably in good shape). I'm assuming this is the basis of the problem, though Heatwave isn't giving details.

Congratulations!! :) Happy anniversary!

I had fleeting thoughts about the same thing when I was first introduced to acro, but I kept telling myself that bodies are bodies, and we all have them and we can use them to do things in very close proximity to other bodies that *doesn't* involve sex. I hope this guys' gf can get over it - acro is, in my opinion, sometimes much better than sex - she should get involved!! :)

Oh, everyone has those thoughts about acro, especially at first. We have a saying about it. When someone has a mildly uncomfortable moment or has to admit that a trick involves being in a compromising position, they say "acro is friendly" and everyone shrugs, laughs and goes back to practicing the trick.

Thanks! And I hope she gets over it, too. Heatwave's been doing acro for 4-5 years, long before he met this girl, and never gotten into weirdness because of it.

Thank you! And yes, it really does. The more I explore just how firm that anchor is these days, the more impressed and grateful I am.
