I am in the middle of a bunch of several-week projects.

1) Going for promotion. All my peer reviewers have submitted their reviews now (except the Winemaker, who I'm not worried about because he knows quite well when the promo committees meet). I should be waiting on tenterhooks for the end-of-April final answer, but I'm actually pretty confident and not-stressed. My thinking on the topic comes down to "Please, please let this be the level where I can at last simply do my job and be happy and have Zillian be happy."

2) Acne stuff (experiments started March 1). Life continues here on a slow getting-better trend after almost 5 weeks off dairy, which makes me cheerful every single morning. Even though I was wrong and my pre-period breakout did end up involving three zits of the kind I really am trying to eliminate: the kind that look awful for 10 days. They're okay now and my face looks better than it has in months... I somehow got some papules on my chin this week, but they're mostly the deep-under kind that never come up, so I still get to feel pretty. :P I wonder, did I eat something unusual? But in the absence of a food diary* I really don't know. In the presence of a positive trend, I continue to continue: no dairy* at least until after my next period, fish oil capsules every day, wait, be cheerful.

3) Electrolysis (started March 4). A few weeks ago I started getting electrolysis on my armpits, basically as a warmup for getting it done further down. Not sure anymore about this strategy: armpits are easy to shave, and all this is doing is making me annoyed at being burned all the time and rather dreading going through it all again. Nonetheless, I'm down to "every 2 weeks" on armpits now, and will begin coochie work next Tuesday. Burns are temporary, convenience is forever.

4) Adopting an ocicat kitten (started trying in early Feb, made kitten deposit on March 3). No news on this one -- grump. My calendar tells me the baby cats in question are 6 weeks old now, but the most recent pictures from crazy cat lady are still from when they were 2 weeks. They must be so much more developed now! I wonder at what age I'm supposed to choose the kitten, and whether they are shaping up to be "pet quality" or "show quality". She'll tell me.

Looking back over these, all I can conclude is that the first week of March saw a lot of kickoffs. And all of these are going to continue all through April, so let's hope they're all good ideas. Someday maybe I'll take my clear-skinned, staff-level engineer self home to frolic with the ocikitten, and I won't have to shave first.

* diary and dairy are metatheses of each other: they have exactly two letters transposed. The things I learn from being on hiring committee at work and seeing everyone's interview questions...!

I should really know this, but is electrolysis different than laser hair removal? My friend had the latter done up top and down below, and was really disappointed with the end results. Hopefully YMMV! She has a lot less hair than before, but still has to shave/wax occasionally.

I hope you're happy with the results! I've thought about permanent hair removal because I'm laaaaaaaaaazy, but then I just fall back on being lazy. :)

also lazy

So electrolysis works better then laser hair removal?

I'm jealous btw...I want to do this.

Man, bikini hair is such a pain to keep trimmed. Shaving is too high-maintenance to want to bother with it, and stubble is just itchy for all. Waxing costs money and ow. I actually just tried out a cheep razor with a guard on it that pretty much acts like a comb and razor- worked pretty well just for taming the jungle without going too short. I was excited. Downside is that these are disposables only.

Yeah, I wanted to try out a 99 cent disposable thing before I started hunting for something a bit more durable. Plus you can use it in the shower, which gets rid of a barrier to entry for me. Er. That sounded weird. But it will make you grin. So it stands.
