Okay, just a lawyer and an inspector. The lawyer is nice. The inspector is a total real-estate-broker-hating freak but it does seem like he'll do a good job. And... well, if anyone can find $1500 worth of damage (the amount we must find to have any wiggle room in the price or backing out of the offer), it sounds like he's the one.
Apparently if the inspection on Sunday goes well, in 10 days we'll do a "purchase and sale agreement" that is legally binding. Oddly, then and not closing is when they apparently want the down payment--kind of an oops since I'd been including my next end-of-month paycheck in my assumption that I'd have that money. Uhhh.... HLM? Can I borrow a chunk of money for a few days? Thanks. :b
Also, when I woke up this morning at 6:00 with my brain frantically redoing my budget--and what was up with that, anyway, was I crunching numbers in my sleep? I think my subconscious hasn't figured out I won't have to handle these payments alone--I realized that with mortgage payments being tax deductable there's no way I should keep claiming 0 allowances on my W-4. I got the form from irs.gov & have promised myself to deal with it soon. Yay for suddenly having bigger paychecks without having to negotiate a raise!
So, all is well today. I do think I'm a bit ill from something... hey, perhaps I should panic and become part of the mass hysteria that's forming around flu season. Or perhaps not. :)

Date: 2003-12-15 02:45 am (UTC)You'd have to go back a few days to find my post on childfree... back to the day I said I'd discovered it, or actually the day after that for the one that actually started some discussion. I'll dredge up the links for you at some point.
