Last weekend we were visited by [personal profile] heisenbug's sister, who was here to take a workshop on guided question-based dialogues. She's vegan and we used her presence as an excuse to try some of the all-vegan restaurants in our area -- both the taco place and the pan-Asian place were good -- and she got to meet [personal profile] norwoodbridge. So that wasn't all bad, but her presence seemed to set the bug on edge all weekend and so I was jittery too. No work was done and I didn't get to [personal profile] coraline's party in person. I tried to at least aim my jitters at useful house-things, and succeeded in ordering some new dining-room chairs, so, victory? Oh, and when I took her to a bookstore for a while I found that Connie Willis has a new book out. I bought it immediately. :-)

Work this week: I stayed up too late doing it, for multiple nights, but it was punctuated with dramatically positive feedback. My promotion decision finalized (Tuesday), I got to read everyone else's input to my promotion package (Wednesday), and then I got my new algorithmically-determined salary (Friday). I got a 6% raise, which is what I was expecting -- I'm a manager, I know the algorithm -- and 1.06*Enough is still totally Enough. I'm waiting to see what becomes of me in the new org, but for the moment I feel loved.

Friday handstands brought one nice pike-up all on my own, thanks to the coach having me practice it as a handstand forward roll-onto-mat with more and more of a stall. And tonight I got to see Pilobolus, although most of the show was not their old style and was all-around more bro-ey than I expected. (In one act they did the "woman as found object" trope, and then later in the same act the two guys did reciprocal acro while the two women changed their dresses. Seriously.) They were in fine form on the final act, though. I had a nice talk with [personal profile] heisenbug about how in that act the dancers were acting the parts of stereotypically gendered bird/human creatures, but the male and female performers got to do things of equivalent skill and exertion levels, and for me that made the difference.

She's so good at that. It was like Bellwether crossed with Even The Queen meets Tinder at a technology convention.
