This week was hard -- yes, I know all the big things have been coming up aces, but there are all the little things, and this week had a lot of little things. Mostly I was just behind on personal logistics, and then my remote subteam was visiting my team at work so I didn't catch up on any of it either. By the end of the week I was reacting to proposed plans from Norwood mostly with panic and "OMG, more!? I can't even", which wasn't pleasant for anyone. I made
heisenbug put up with some calendar nonsense over dinner on Friday just to get myself away from the creeping worry that I was triple-booked somewhere.
I called the vet on Thursday about Hypercube's weird peeing habits lately, and was informed that I should bring her in ASAP because she was probably in discomfort. Damned if the little beast had been acting upset, but off she went, and came back with antibiotics and painkillers for a bladder infection and I felt like a terrible cat mother. :_(
My knee also scared me. Never mind all the bruises on my lower body -- for about three days there I wasn't able to walk down stairs normally, and you can imagine how much I loved that. Uggggh. After a lot of taking all the elevators and escalators to give it a break, and icing it twice a day and taking ibuprofen every 8 hours, today stairs seem okay again. I'm still going easy on it for a while though, and feeling much less bullish about doing another Tough Mudder without a lot more running tolerance built up.
So today I pretty much went apeshit on all the personal logistics stuff: woke up and spent eight hours doing everything hinted at in my starred email list. RSVPs, listing my bike for sale on eBay, event planning/shopping, calling an airline, responding to friends and parents, even putting in credit report freezes at the major credit agencies. In the end I went from 30+ starred emails to zero in less than 24 hours, most of them during the eight today. I have developed a bit of an eyelid twitch (I blame the phone calls), but goddamn it that is one problem I don't have anymore.
And last week was my last five-day work week in a while.
