Mini happenings

I feel kind of unwelcome in the world lately. Oh, not everywhere, but my last "internal social media" post bombed (deleted now) and an exchange on an anonymous list got snippy enough to bring in the mods. It's like hitting the rumble strip when driving: things are still okay but I'd better pay more attention to staying in my lane. I'm getting a little too prickly.

More firsts: last weekend I started my first audio book (and subscription to Audible, which I may or may not keep) because I wanted something long-form to listen to while driving. And today my first use of TaskRabbit, which brought my sewing machine back home for me like magic and I will definitely use again.

And a second: I've been called for jury duty in September! First time in about 25 years, so it almost feels like a first. Exciting.

I was called for jury duty 2x in about a year (only two times ever), despite the first time providing evidence that I'm ineligible to serve. That sort of inefficiency irritates me. :-)

I have a group of friends who zoom and listen to radio plays together and I think we're going to do an audiobook soon since Sandman came out. I have a hard time concentrating on audio, it's all or nothing, so they're not really great for allowing me to do other things at the same time, unless it's a mindless something (finishing bookshelves worked, driving in traffic did not).
