My Dale Carnegie teacher finally called me back about me being a potential team leader for a class this summer. Honestly, I had thought this opportunity had pretty much evaporated over the last few months... but apparently not. She has a new class starting on June 16 that she didn't realize she was going to have, and she wants me to be a team lead, and I opened my big mouth without rubbing two neurons together first and said I'd do it. Oh, god... I'm not sure I can handle the energetic pumping up again... although if I do happen to be starting a new job soon, it would help remind me of all the little things to do right with my coworkers, and I'm gonna mention this to the guy I just interviewed with, too. All I know for sure is, my summer just went crazy and I just committed to the exact opposite of chilling out and thinking things through.

Good job, you resume-padding idiot. I mean, it is a good thing. But---!

team leader for a class - What does this entail actually? Is this like being a tutor or something?

It entails spending from 6:00 to 9:30 on Wednesdays, for twelve weeks, being as close to the perfect human being as possible--helping the teacher set up for classes, giving demonstrations of the various kinds of speeches (1 to 3 minute talks). I'll participate in the classes sometimes when an extra person is needed, I'll mingle during the breaks, and I'll help coach people through things when they're having difficulties. (I get some coaching training--coaching coaching?--to learn to do this.)

You don't get invited to do this unless you did well in the original course, so it really is an honor, but it's a time-sinky kind of honor.

Modified, of course (http://www.livejournal.com/users/calnhobbes/98056.html). I had to shrink Calvin & the box to get it to fit in 100xwhatever and still look good. I left the lettering of the box original sized and made it fit. I also added in 2 music notes to Calvin's whistling since one just seemed odd. I have another that I use for Calvin called 'snarky'. I spy another Calvin one I want to make, but I fear going overboard.
