Malibu inspiration
Dec. 27th, 2004 08:16 amHeavy lifting day yesterday--full body, since the silly gym was closed Saturday for some damn fool reason and I couldn't do upper body like I usually do. This girl was there who I'll have to call Malibu Barbie--she's so lean and so muscular that her thighs are bigger than her butt, and you can see every little ab muscle all the way down through her lower belly. She's always perfectly fake-tanned too. Wow, just... wow. I can't decide if I actually like how she looks, but I sure could stare at her all day. I think she's probably a fitness competitor.
Girls, did you know it's possible for us to learn to pee standing up?
The wind came up in the night as it was snowing and obliterated all of yesterday's shoveling, so I'd better get out there and (re)do the snow mambo. And then back to work. Seems unreal after all this time off...

Date: 2004-12-27 06:49 am (UTC)It has been a frequent observation that heterosexual girls can find other girls attractive, but because they lust over their bodies (or eyes, or hair, or whatever) in a sense that they find this aspect of the girl attractive & wish they could have that attribute as well. Often girls & guys find different things attractive about girls (because guys are looking at the girls in a
purelymore sexual manner). If this isn't a perfect example of that, I don't know what is. The person you just described sounds like someone I would look away from if I saw them walking down the street. While nice tone is a good thing, the person you described sounds fairly devoid of femininity. And fake tan? Yuck. Plus I can't deny, I like a little butt on a girl. ;)no subject
Date: 2004-12-27 07:01 am (UTC)(I feel compelled to add that she's not devoid of femininity. She has a cute face and a little ponytail, and looks a lot more normal in clothes. My guess is that she's very happy with how she is, which is what matters a lot more than you or me ogling.)
I've seen similar dynamics in what guys admire in other guys. It's not always what a woman wants to see. *shrug* It goes both ways.

Date: 2004-12-27 04:54 pm (UTC)As for Malibu inspiration...uh uh. I know what you mean about striving for that in some ways, but my gut reaction is "freakish"...and even if something is to be respected (in terms of requiring dedication and hardwork), I don't want the main reaction upon seeing me to be "freak".

Date: 2004-12-27 07:21 pm (UTC)A lot of guys I've known have admiration/envy for height, or strength, or skinniness (yes, body stuff, definitely!). Or they feel that way about aggressiveness or artistic abilities or smoothness in social situations or a myriad of other skills. A lot of people admire public speaking.
And as for not all of it being sexual, if you've seen power lifters (the ones that ONLY do deadlift and squat and bench press, with huge weights) you oughta know what I mean. Those guys clearly admire the hell out of each others' brute strength, but... yipes. :b

Date: 2004-12-28 05:59 am (UTC)Yes, as I admire good soccer playing in girls.
As for all of those other skills/traits, girls like them in guys too. I do see your point about the brute strength though. I guess its the same in girls and guys... Too much muscle is just a little gross.
