I wrote a post last night. The computer ate it by rebooting on me. I'm writing it again. Cue "the itsy bitsy spider".

Last night's yoga class was quite a nice surprise. Out of nowhere I was tapped by the wand of the Good Balance Fairy, and was suddenly able to do the advanced version of half moon pose, where the supporting hand comes off the floor and onto the shin of the standing leg. I did that on both sides, and then I did the no-hands version of the standing split as well (in that case you're just bending forward with both hands on the ankle of one leg, the other foot up behind you as high as it will go). I have never been able to balance in either of those before -- it was quite a feeling to suddenly do it so naturally.

That happiness was then offset by the news that my favorite teacher will no longer be teaching that class. Ah, surfer dude. I'll miss you. :(

Tomorrow I face the drab, beige, corporate life transition of moving to cubeland. Yes, I always knew that my current location was temporary, but was it wrong to hope for more than a half-cube in my more permanent home? Egggggggh. I feel almost embarrassed to admit it's happening -- you'd think the last couple of years would have taught me how little correlation there is at my company between respect, salary and office space, and at least the little pod our team is in still has a big window dumping light into it, but still. Cubeland! Eggggggh. This weekend will doubtless find me at Staples trying to buy some things to make my half-cube livable, like little sticky-velcro things to let me hold papers to the walls (the back wall of the half-cube will accept push pins, but the side walls won't) and hopefully some kind of smallish-but-useful, velcroable whiteboard. If anyone has any other clever ideas, let me know, because I'm all in favor of having a nice, civilized half-cube. I have a chance... I have 3 plants already, and I've ordered some acrobots to wander in the jungle.

There are these little sewing pins you can get that stick into fabric and through your papers. Those were really helpful.

And I loved having my Betta fish in the office. Although you have to clean their vases out every two weeks or so and they need daily feedings, they're great office company.

Those Acrobots are neat. :D You'll never find me in a half moon pose, I would tumble over in a heap. ;P

Cubeland - ick. My sympathies. However, I have no doubt that you can make it yours. The idea of the betta fish is not a bad one, they add life, literally. In fact, I may steal that idea. :-D

Congrats on the new balance advances! I just tried the half-moon one (not the advanced), and although I don't have a problem with the balance, I don't have the flexibility/strength to get my leg above 90 degrees. It felt nice to take a break and do it though.
