Well, that was one strange and emotional bachelorette-party weekend... I had no time at home, so all the little things in my life are obscenely out of whack. On the other hand, I got to spend it in Manhattan, the center of the universe. :)

So -- it's nice to be home. I have a cute little handbag, still no period (15 days late now, and when do I get to try my mooncup? I'm about ready to crawl up there looking for the damn thing) and a card from a silly bachelorette card game that says Tell A Geek How Sexy He Is! Words to live by.

Demolition of the building across the street continues. Have you guys ever seen a remote-controlled jackhammer? It's like a 10-foot-tall excavator, with the jackhammer bit on the end of the articulated arm. The controls are attached by a wire, and it usually looks like a big yellow bird being walked on a leash, and pecking at the ground (or the walls, or whatever).

Well, now they've lifted one of those up about 6 stories in a big flat box, using a truly giant crane, and it is now pecking at the one tall concrete wall they left standing. It has to bend over the top of the wall and peck back at itself, because otherwise it'll just swing itself away. I really wish I had a camera... it looks for all the world like a baby dinosaur in a nest. So cute!
