Before the future

In the meantime, the bug and I flat-out ordered our Thanksgiving dinner this year. Complete with a pie. We've done so many holidays with just the two of us (and the cats) that we haven't shared in this year's communal agonizing over whether to travel or get together with someone, but it's the first time we've moneyed our way out of cooking.

I think it's fine. I've got enough other stuff on my mind and to-do list.

I've also had a large variety of Thanksgivings... followed various people home to their families, hosted friend gatherings, attended many friend gatherings/potlucks, done just the two of us. Everything except a Thanksgiving with just my own family, really. It's all been fine, and this will be fine too.

Does C need anything else besides the turkey to make it feel right? Video call with his family maybe? I'm planning to send some gratitude emails/texts to people I've been thankful for this year, and probably post here, and call it good.

He hasn't been into video calls lately, but maybe/we'll see. We might get together outdoors with his parents the day after Thanksgiving if the weather's good - they live just a 10-minute ferry ride away now (plus a 10-minute walk from our place to the ferry terminal and a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal to their place) and their building has an outdoor terrace where we could eat pie, or we could just take a walk by the water.
